Prince Adam holding aloft his magic sword

Hi Everybody!

Per a conversation I had with sonofblaine in the redesign forum, I have taken a crack at drawing and "painting" in Photoshop. I have done it a couple of times before, but this is the best so far. If anyone has suggestions on a sword please post you ideas and concepts. I have been drawing some swords in my sketch book, but I find getting the right sword to be difficult.

Enjoy

BlueMonkeyTV ident

This is a ident, which is the short segment on tv stations that identify who they are and what they are about. This one is for a class I completed this week, based on my company Blue Monkey Studios. I used mostly footage of myself, my animations, and drawings. There are also various references to movies, characters that are not of my own creation, but would be a part of the subject matter of BMtv.

Music is by Bill Conti: Karate Kid II: Main Title

Hope you enjoy it.

Evil Comet Warrior

Hi, Everybody! Last night on the he-man.org forums I saw the latest redesign challenges that go on every month or so. I hadn't done one in some time so I figured I'd take a crack at it. As some of you know Masters of the Universe had a few character that curled up to look like meteors. What you don't know is that Mattel had a plan for some villainous meteors. That was the challenge and was it a challenge. The only reference material we had was concept art of 5 or 6 characters all in a box the size of this paragraph. The challenge ends this Saturday, but I was so into it I did this last night. Hope you like it.

He-Ro's Staff

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF1cHMasPzc&feature=channel_page
Here is an animation test I did for a project my buddy Matt and I are going to do. Say hello to He-Ro as he defends Castle Grayskull with his Crystal Staff.

This is one of the first animations I did. It was extremely hard to do because I didn't have all the right tools, so I couldn't pan like the instructor wanted. All in all not bad for a first. The banana on the ground is a bit erratic but whatever. Live and learn. ENJOY!!

Some artwork

Hey all two of my followers!! Decided to start posting some artwork for your viewing pleasure.

You Should See the Other Guy

Here is a quick animation I did while at work, instead of doing my work. It is very rough since the drawings were done in Paint and then laid out in PS. A lot of different formats to play with makes things a bit muddy. But I hope you enjoy it. The title is something my troop leader in Boy Scouts said I should say to my dad. I was punched in the eye the night before by some douche bag with a power complex.

Web comic #0 Sam vs. the Spot

Hey gang, here it the first web comic for Sam Saturn. This was originally done for the Heroes Convention 2008. The mini comic included this story plus a few pieces of art by yours truly. If you are interested in a copy send me a note and we will work things out. The comic is going for a buck. I hope you will enjoy this first of many comics to come. :)

Hey all, things have been busy with the kid and school, the kid. I thought today I would post a piece of art I did a while back. I had been an part time supervisor for about 2 or 3 years and I was starting to hate it. I drew this during work and a while later painted it in Photoshop. It shows the drone-like purpose of a supervisor. There were constantly new supervisors taking others places. We had a saying "Part time supervisors change like you change your underwear." That was of course assuming that you changed your underwear on a regular basis.

This animation was done about a month back. It is the lastest on to date and one of the best ones. It's about 40 seconds long and completely silent, but entertaining. I hope you like it and please leave comments and feedback.

Okay, so I thought it would be interesting to see if my blog or myspace account would show in a google search. And apparently there is another Blue Monkey Studios out there. From the UK of all places and they are an animation studio. So just to point out that we are not the same thing, they are obviously more professional and have been around longer. Man, and I thought I had an original name for a studio...oh well at least we both have go taste. But I've noticed that they have screenshots of a barbie video game...ummm, yeah. But anyway if you want to take a look here is the link: http://www.bluemonkeystudios.com/bms-home.htm

Cheerio,
Josh

Hello everyone,

My name is Josh, I am a 3rd year animation student on the Art Institute Online through the University of Pittsburgh. Like many artists I am looking for work and I hope that this blog will get my name out there. I will be posting various pieces of artwork, animations, and web comics. I hope you enjoy these things and if you are looking for an illustrator or animator please drop me a line.

I came up with the name Blue Monkey Studios as a publishing company for my comic, Sam Saturn. Since then I have decided to encompass all that I do as an artist under this label. Hopefully one day this will grow into a larger endeavor than it is now. But for now I am content.
